Members of the Jefferson School Early Act Club, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Westfield, visited Rotarians recently to outline the many charitable and community projects the club has undertaken throughout the year.
The Early Act Club is a service club whose members are 5th graders and whose mission echoes the Rotary Club motto... "service above self." The projects showcased in a "Year-in-Review" slide presentation to Rotarians on June 4 included 750 "Wednesday Lunches" with families making an extra lunch each week to donate to an area food pantry, Halloween costumes and holiday meals and gifts collected for those less fortunate, the recent planting of 20 young trees bordering the Jefferson School grounds, a summer food drive, and collection of day camp items for Bernice's Place in Elizabeth which supports homeless and at-risk children.
There are 34 members of the Jefferson School Early Act Club for the 2018-2019 school year. Club advisors are teachers Megan Cardillo, Caitlin Ferraro, Joanna Leach, Tiffany Winters, and principal Dr. Susie Hung.
