Health Office Guidelines
The Westfield Public Schools Health Services Program provides health and nursing services for all the students K-12. The goal of the Health Office in the 9 schools is to support the educational process by promoting optimum wellness and working closely with the parents/guardians to:
· Assess and evaluate the health needs of students
· Accommodate students with specific health concerns
· Serve as a health resource for the school community
The Comprehensive School Health Services provided to the students include but are not limited to:
- Blood Pressure, Height, & Weight Screenings
- Vision Screening
- Audiometric Screening
- Health Appraisals and Referrals
- Scoliosis Screenings
- Maintenance of health records
- Compliance with State Immunization Requirements
- Administration of medications prescribed by a physician
- Assessment and provision of initial care for illness/injury
- Management of the School's Emergency Team
- Liason between school, parents, physician and community agencies
